Soybean Rust Information Center
Merged with Focus on Soybean
PMN’s popular Soybean Rust Information
Center has now been incorporated into a
new, more encompassing page called Focus
on Soybean. The new Focus page
retains the former three volumes of the
Proceedings of the National Soybean Rust
Symposium and adds new webcasts on
soybean crop production, links to PMN’s
searchable resources, and more. Visit and
bookmark
Focus on Soybean for all your
soybean-related news and information.
PMN Webcast Discusses Management of Soybean
Root and Stem Rot
As
presented in
PMN’s
Focus on Soybean,
Phytophthora
sojae,
the cause of
Phytophthora root and stem rot,
is re-emerging as a key soybean pathogen in
much of the United States. In a
new online webcast, Dr. Anne
Dorrance
discusses why this is, how different types
of resistance work, and disease management
strategies that can reduce yield losses.
Plant Health Progress
Editor’s Pick
In Alabama and other southeastern states,
corn is frequently planted in rotation with
cotton and peanut to minimize soil-borne
pest problems. Even in areas where peanut is
not grown, corn is increasingly being
planted in rotation with cotton. However,
one root-knot nematode causes damage to both
cotton and corn.
Read about how K. L. Bowen and
co-authors determined the effects of this
nematode on corn grain yield.
