Walnut Creek, California (March 15, 2012)--Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced that Chateau® Herbicide SW has been labeled for in-season use in tree nuts.

Chateau is proven to provide long-lasting residual control of tough winter annual weeds when applied after harvest in the fall and winter months. Now tree nut growers can add Chateau to spring (in-season) burndown sprays and get residual control of summer annual weeds as well.

“The new in-season label for Chateau is great news for tree nut growers. It allows in-season, after bloom, low, 4-6 oz-rate applications of Chateau in combination with a postemergence herbicide,” said Kelli Woodwick, marketing manager for specialty crops at Valent. “Preemergence herbicides are a crucial part of weed resistance management programs, so Chateau provides an important new tool for in-season use.”

Featuring the active ingredient flumioxazin, Chateau offers residual protection against a broad spectrum of summer annual weeds, including purslane and spurge. Chateau won’t leach or volatilize, making it an orchard-friendly option. And when used in season, Chateau helps reduce competition between weeds and crops for water and nutrients.
